running 5 light containers should be fine if you have enough RAM. If you have heavy containers, then there is a risk of thermal throttling. Downside of the MBA is sustained performance. Thanks machan. I am currently using M1/8GB pro. Its been more than 4 years and still working nicely. I have a dell 32 gb 11th gen with ubuntu given by my company and tbh M1 pro is still better than the dell laptop. I am hoping to buy a new one and saw reviews that air is capable of doing lots of stuff. Is air ok with running 3-5 servers with docker, databases, multiple ide etc? Because air is much cheaper than pro
Anyway to give some idea, I’ve been using MBP M4 for about 5months and believe or not, I have heard cooling fans turning on may be about 5 times. I am running very heavy workloads. (Multiple containers, multiple IDEs,Multiple Emulators, running/training AI models)
I am not sure how accurate this is,(some sources says this is accurate btw)You can use model number and serial number to identify those details machan, use ChatGpt or IMEI24 or IMEI.info to check those.
ex: Model Number ends with
LL/A - USA
AE/A - UAE
SG/A - Singapore
HN/A - India.
My Work MBA is purchased from Singapore,(US KB Layout) and It has LL/A suffix.
My MBP is also purchased at Singa(By LuxuryX, but a custom spec’ed order), I will check that also and post the model suffix.
PS : My personal macbook (this is also purchased in SG), also has LL/A
