Got a chance to see Machang...

Its a nice movie about a group of desperate Sri Lankans who are trying to go abroad but keep getting their requests for Visas rejected.

One is an Orange Seller in Pettah, Another is a Toilet Cleaner, Another is a pimp..ect. Most of the poor people in Colombo of various forms of lives are represented here & finally the guys come up with a plan to form a Hand Ball team (Supposed to be the National Hand Ball Team of Sri Lanka as Sri Lanka doesnt have Hand Ball ) then they contact the Hand Ball federation of Germany & get them to send an invitation for them to attend a tournament in Germany.

Letters are secretly printed, seals are forged, signatures are duplicated & to the team at the last moment joins a couple of Afghans & a Bangladeshi who are illegal immigrants themselves. The group only wants to get to Germany so that they could jump to other countries like UK & Italy.. So they dont even train properly let alone know the rules of Hand Ball..

Somehow the group gets to Germany & gets picked up by the representatives of the German Handball fed & informs that the match is 2 days from now & they can rest the next day. So our guys plan to escape the next day but only to find that due to another teams absence they have to play their first match in an hour...

The entire group panics as they dont even know the rules properly let alone play a professional German Hand ball team.. the stadium is packed & r guys get creamed in the first match.. the score is like 75+ to 0.. Its freaking hilarious...

they play a couple of other matches & finally managed to score one goal though.. the celebrations are so out of this world that even the other teams players starts applauding…but the German authorities starts to suspect them because its so obvious to everyone that these guys haven’t even touched a ball before this…

Not gonna give away the ending but its what you’d call a very cute movie.. Its a true Family movie & Acting from everyone is top notch.. the story flows really well & its supposed to be directed by an Italian Director so the directing & production is very high as you can imagine...

I loved this movie & Enjoyed every minute of it...

It really has been a good year for Sri Lankan Cinema. .some pretty good releases coming out...& Machang is another memorable addition to it
