This is simple mathematics plus a little trick. The solution is:

1. When you add any two digits together and subtract it from the original (two digit number) it will always be a multiple of 9 i.e. 9, 18, 27,...
2. Now look at the chart the outcome (9, 18, 27,...) are represented by the same symbol
