yesterday i received my WiFi stick and tested using Ad-hoc connection and Connectify software. it works properly. connectify software is lot more easy to configure WiFi hot spot .

i only tested indoor, so with good signal quality it works around 20m-30m (indoor). but there are dead-spots in some places.
