I am sorry. I forgot to mention about the cooling requirements. If you are not in an A/C room, you need to install a cooling fan to cool down the HDs. Normal case cooling will not help. If you have more than 2 HDs, use a larger fan.

Remember this is important. :nerd:

Install OS (Windows XP, Vista, or 7 or even Mac on a smaller HD e.g. 160/200GB 7200 rpm seprately.

If you allow your HD to run hotter for longer period of time it will fail eventually. Like OS drive or Torrent temp storage drive.

Use the larger drive e.g. 1 or 2TB drive to store data like HD movies/games/important files.

On CMOS and on OS power management, select to power down HD's when in not use. e.g. Time-out 10 min. This will save lot of drive 'Power On' time.

Dont make multiple partitions for different OS on a single drive. (Bad practice) Instead, use separate physical drives when it is possible for your pocket.

If you have multiple OS's, use CMOS OS drive selector to boot instead of any thirdparty boot manager.

Also remeber to disconnect all the other OS drives before instaling newer OS for multiple boot PC. :nerd:

Always use SATA 2. You need to have SATA2 capable mother board for this. Older SATA1 MB's will run much slower even if you install newer SATA2 drive in them.

As a rule of thumb newer HD’s consume lesser power than the older smaller drives.
