is it compulsory to have a 1st class or 2nd upper? :baffled:, i haven't heard something like that , but i guess the preference will be high for the one that got qualification and potential :)

It's not necessary to have a 1st class or 2nd upper to become a MT. I have some friends with general pass (degree: BSc Eng (Moratuwa)) and currently working for well known companies. Most of the companies major concern is not about your academic achievements. All that matters is your potential to survive in dynamic working environment and how you deal with day-to-day problems.

Need to have 1st class or 2nd upper if you are applying for a job in academic sector (example: lecturer in government or private uni). :)

Companies: Nestle, Hayleys, MAS, Brandix etc etc (depends on your field)
Experience: in most of the companies, the fresh graduates are selected as I know.
Age: normally below 25-26 (both experience and age limit depend on the company)

There were some guys I know who worked as MTs in Brandix, MAS fabric dyeing & finishing plants and Nestle. Haven't contacted them recently. So don't know whether they are still there or not... Out of these, I personally think Nestle is having a good working environment than dyeing and finishing plants. But they have already called applications for MTs in 2015 and the recruitment process is ongoing. Seems like you are late for that. :) May be you can try next time.

There are plenty of management trainee opportunities at John Keells, but do not apply for their super market section (Keells Super), job satisfaction is nil.
    High labour turn over :(

Several friends of mine worked for them.
