look at this guy go  is this a nu metal band? one thing I hate in metalheads is that they seem to think they are the shit and all the rest is worthless...I mean who cares, if iraj want he can keep on making his shitty music and his fans can keep listening to them...but they don't make funeral in heaven any better than what they re..i haven't heard their music to talk about their originality..but this dude needs to chill out and get a life and stop talking like he invented metal...bet they all are slipknot or children of bodom fans.

He he he heeeeee.....Slipknot!!! have u heard genres called Black Metal, Death Metal, Suicidal Black Metal, Gothic, Doom Metal, Viking Metal etc....Ubata dennam list ekakma...!!!! They are best Metal band in Sri Lanka ryt now!! Stgmata quite suxx nw!! They are all over slipknot!! way way higher and darker!!!!! I dnt give damn abt iraj these comments n all!!! I jz cnt control my hands!!! ONA DEYAK KIYAPAN AWULK NA MACHN!!! JAYA WEWA!!!! \m/

so what is it in black metal, death metal, gothic metal, doom metal or even viking metal that give you metalheads the right to go around bashing iraj or the music he make? are you a better human being for listening to that? does it make you any better than the rest? do you guys like hit a another level of consciousness or awareness as you listen to metal?

and if i had heard of genres like the genres your mentioned in your post, would I have felt differently about iraj? would I have hated him?...

ability to growl u'r lungs out till froth streams from u'r nose doesn't make a good metal band, the theme, environment and more the musical ability and how u relate to u'r base matters a lot. that said, lankan metal scene needs to grow musically and just trying to pose as a new genre without actually being true, or trying to infuse brutality into our cultural heritage (so called hela black metal) doesn't make u kewl at all.

btw to emphasize my point iraj is crap too.

Iraj is not a singer, but he is a good composer... but if he likes, he can sing....Djram says rock artists can perform on stage as same as their original audios, but i see, this is very rare..
eg- staind, linkin park, hoobastank,EVANESCENCE , etc

the bands you mentioned here suck live, but I love specially evanescence :P there are some metal bands who give a different kick to their live tracks and I usually go with the live ones...but unfortunately, most metal bands that I listen to either don't play live or, their live shows are too rare to find. but I say this about metal, most of them got a fucksight better talent than iraj...but iraj is a better business dude lolz

why I think iraj don't deserve the heat he gets is that, he don't claim to be something he's not, and I think his fans realize that he can't perform live for shit, if they are ok with that, what is it to some dumb metallers? I'm sorry to say this but bands like funeral in heaven goes against the very basic ideas of metal.

lol u are shredding that funeral in heaven band into pieces :P i'd say it too is not worth the attention it gets.

agalloch is different this time, PF was blackmetalish mantle was more folkish while ashes went far into experimenting with ambient and post rock elements. this time it looks like a mixture of all. clean vox are almost gone replaced by growls fastpaced than before. also the drums got more emphasis this time, and i love those acoustic sections (specially the piano section in watcher's monolith and electro like section in black lake) i don't know the lyrical theme yet, need to wait till lyrics are out. anyway that album kinda grew on me finally lol. but still my fav is mantle :P

mantle was just too folkish for my taste :P ashes on the other hand can freeze any ass to death  I seriously can't put ashes into one genre..its kinda doomish, kinda proggish and very very cold and depressive. I wouldn't call it blackish though.

can't say much about the new album right now as I only heard it once yet but it got some awesome doom riffs, specially the black lake..I think they are trying to incorporate funeral elements in their music now and I lurrve the vocals man ..they are totally sick...that album needs a few more listen before saying anything.

i've given several spins now :P my verdict is this is more a mix of their styles :) i like it coz it grew on me.
mantle is folkish, but what stands out is the lyrics, the story which flows in it. the search for god in pagan elements. nothing epic than that.
"in the shadow of our pale companion" is epic
