Minister of Labor Relations and Manpower Mervin Silva promised not to mess about the duties of any journalist in future before the Supreme Court today (17).
Minister Mervin Silva gave this promise when the Supreme Court gave the verdict of the fundamental rights petition filed by Sirasa TV and the journalists intimidated by the Minister at the opening ceremony of the second stage of the Kelaniya flyover.
Minister Mervin Silva agreed to pay a compensation of Rs. 750,000 for the video camera that was damaged in the incident.
The petition was considered by a panel of judges comprised of Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva and K. Sripawan.
