Microsoft Sri Lanka launched Windows Vista and Microsoft 2007 in Sinhala at a ceremony held In Colombo this evening. The software was devoloped in collaboration with ICTA, a local information technology company.

Govenment announce that 2009 as " English language and IT Educational year". I can't see a single good reason to translate vista to Sinhala. May be Microsoft assumed they can increase SL OS market with this step. But this could be an another wrong decision MS have made.
Do you guys think that people (like us) will buy Sinhala edition? I don't think so![]()
I won’t call it a useless effort. Maybe we won’t use it, but I’m sure there are many out there who can benefit from a Sinhala version. Especially the government sector and people in rural areas who are not very comfortable using English. Perhaps changing Vista alone is not enough, but we have to start somewhere.
