OK lets say they install Linux on Notebooks and PCs. So ppl rush to it and buy?
Nope.

Actually there are lot other factors to make people switch than a small speed difference of a benchmark. Mostly all the geeks have Windows machine or running windows too. So that tells the story.

About Windows 7 its not even beta 2 yet. And as i know the beta not targeting netbooks.

and i saw a funny thing in lxer some tym ago.. some shops selling linux netbooks without mention the a netbook is a computer.. the reason is. when they say its a computer the custemers aksking "where the hell is Windows??"" hik hik so they sell them as a diff product. i saw there adverticements too.. LYK A CALCULATOR.. hik hik (may be its fake. but got the image? )

i remember a reasent one.. the Debian encription's random hash code was not truly random. .. buts its not a gr8 prob couz for a normal PC. the broutforce process will take about 3 years to brake the hash// but its recovered by the socity, solved by the socity.. and the benifits go for the socity ..

a virus may harm a 1 system.. but when a newer or diff distro comes in.,... "where is that damn virus? "

the most hackable system is the linux.. thats its gr8est advantage and. dis (in some cases) thats y i love it.. it gives me the full absolutely FULL control in my own PC....

So both side has its advantages. But for the power user linux gives a better choice due to open and customizable nature. But for the normal user it hardly has any value.

Its same with RedHat they use Fedora Project to make others work for them for free and get a stable version out of it and sell with support as a premium product for higher price than windows too.

Novel suse use OpenSuse project like that. Real Networks use Helix Project.

But what i hate is they selling out dated same PC hardware for very high prices for Mac users who stuck with their Mac empire.

Waste of money. You can build 2 times fast machine or buy one with linux or windows.

but the outdated hws are kicked off by the newer softs and users thats their tech.. couz its hard to upgrade and.. its better to buy a new one rather than upgrading. (almost all the mac users are rich. or can handle the price)

No not at all. Even from benchmarks its not giving huge improvements from outdated hardware. But Mac users has nothing to do coz other hardware are not compatible with their machine. People stick to Mac because some of those Killer appz, stable OS and beautiful design of the computer.

Then why Mac has even less number of viruses than Linux?

Its mostly depending on the userbase. Virus writers write codes for popular OS for Wide reach. And virus writers are also anti virus makers. They wanna sell their product so they compete each other by writing viruses which other program can't scan.
I have researched this well as a Virus scanner get popular its detection rate get low. Because then most of the virus writers spread the virus after scanning using all major anti-virus programs. I know still kaspersky and most of those russian anti virus scanners have good detection rate. thats coz they are the ones who writing viruses to make this game going.

When it comes to server OS linux and Open source playing major role. MS server softwares are very expensive. So you think open source has big effect.
If you don't manage or monitor your linux server well it will get hacked in no time. Its more easy and comparatively more safe to run a Windows server if you are not a tech person.

So open source has its advantages and disadvantages.
Open source has no virus and it can't be hacked coz its done by hackers are totally fake. But open source can help to improve the software.
