machan this depends on the project. And of course Interns are not billable to client in Virtusa so they mostly have to work as shadow resources having some Engineer/Senior Engineer as his lead or mentor. So they would not directly touch a production code base.
To directly work in prod code bases you have to be at least an ASE. So I don't think interns had to work long hours during internship but this will change if they are taken to permanent cadre. (Again change from project to project)
Only good thing I see in Virtusa is the probability of absorbing into permanent cadre from internship is bit higher than MIT.
