the heading of “Modern Dewadaththa....”
Rev Dr. Malcolm Ranjith, is the 9th Archbishop of Sri Lanka. Having studied in 7 international
universities, he is able to articulate a total of 7 languages which are; Sinhala, English, Tamil, German,
French, Italian, Spanish, Indonesian Bhasa. Before been installed as the 09th Archbishop of Sri Lanka,
he was the Secretary General for the Congregation of Divine Worship and the Discipline of the
Sacraments, Vatican.
On the 17th of September 2009, there was an article that was published in a popular web forum which
included a heading as the “Modern Dewadaththa....” This of course directly accused Rev Dr. Malcolm
Ranjith as a traitor of the motherland, for celebrating a Holy Mass under the theme of “Dead Sri
Lanka”. However, this article does involve an author and is not referenced. There are 3 images in this
article. The first image shows a group of people with terrorist flags and photos. In the second image
there is a striped black and white flag and next to it is the Sri Lankan flag. The last image displays Rev.
Dr. Malcolm Ranjith celebrating the Holy Eucharist in Madhu Shrine. In the sequence of images it is
obviously visible that the striped black and white flag that is under the Altar is doctored. The original
image displays an Italian flag.
Furthermore, the author of this article strives to emphasize that the terrorist loyalists too participate in
such events by providing the viewer with the first image.
The publisher of this article has also mentioned that “you can’t lie to a picture... it sayz thousand words...” However, with today's technology pictures can easily mislead people. Hence, a professional article should always be referenced, since it is a must in order to show the credibility of the information provided. But, in this instance Ovalprasad has failed to produce reference. According to his profile details he is a hardware technician. And I’m sure that Rev. Dr. Ranjith will forgive these uneducated people for their unprofessional accusations.
I challenge the author and Ovalprasad to produce the original images if my argument is incorrect. I can produce the original image of the second image which was doctored on request.
