A new study has discovered the Moderna vaccine may be more effective against Covid-19 than the Pfizer jab.
More than 5000 healthcare workers across 25 different US states were studied as part of the study, which was published in The New England Journal of Medicinethis week.
Researchers found the Moderna vaccine was 96 per cent effective at preventing symptomatic Covid infections, beating Pfizer which was found to be 89 per cent effective.
While Moderna was shown to be slightly more effective, researchers noted that both vaccines were “highly effective under real-world conditions in preventing symptomatic Covid-19”.
Another recent study, published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), found that the efficacy of the Pfizer vaccine against hospitalisations fell from 91 per cent to 77 per cent in the four month period following the second shot.
The Moderna vaccine showed no decline in efficacy over the same period.
