A group of singers and relatives of deceased singers is going to take ananmanan.lk, elakiri.lk and **Please do not spam****Please do not spam****Please do not spam****Please do not spam****Please do not spam****Please do not spam****Please do not spam****Please do not spam****Please do not spam** to courts accusing the websites of violating their intellectual property rights.
These websites allow visitors to listen to songs online or download them free of charge.
The son of a deceased singer told Sri Lanka Mirror on condition of anonymity that these websites were getting multimillion rupees of income, also through advertisements given by multinational companies.
Their owners use Benz and BMW cars, while the singers suffer untold hardships, unable even to buy a meal or their medicine, he said.
He also accused them of having defaulted tax payments.
Written representations will be made in this regard to the president, prime minister and the media minister, according to him.
In addition, a protest campaign against these websites has been planned, and the organizers invite other artistes to join their mission through their email address [email protected].
