The suspects had demonstrated opposite the Sri Munasingharama temple in Hatale, Panwila against an illicit affair between a woman and the driver of the chief incumbent of the temple on Saturday. As the chief incumbent intervened to sort out the matter, the angry villagers had set upon him, the police said. They had finally left him tied to a bus stop. The suspects have been remanded till July 3.
