Sources said that 145,140 and 163,725 candidates had failed to obtain at least a simple pass in mathematics and Science, respectively.

About 56,000 had failed Sinhala; it’s 19% as a percentage. 203,845 had failed to obtain a simple pass in English. According to the Examination Department, 295,000 sat the examination conducted last December.

sad situation.....

any way politicians may prefer these results. Because , they can recruit more "bily boys"( to sacrify) to SL Army (while their sons studying in UK/ USA universities)......And corrupt sri lankans can earn foreign income by sending girls to middle east...

corrupt state systems work such.
SL is the fine example

As I said in may times
"sri lanka will be another Zimbabwe or sudan very soon"

    Too much EK! :P

On a serious note, that source is not a credible one. They make up stories just like tamilnet.
