What you are trying to do is illegal, period.

There are Intellectual Property rights and copyright laws in Sri Lanka as in many other countries, the only difference perhaps is how the government is enforcing them. Most of the time the government and the copyright owners are not going after small violations; but if you open up a web site and if it can be traced back to you, then they can (if they want) sue you.

Here is the Code of Intellectual Property Act No. 52 of 1979 (As Amended by Act Nos. 30 of 1980, 2 of 1983, 17 of 1990, 13 of 1997 and 40 of 2000) Of Sri Lanka.

You can find all the information in that.

If they share MP3s for free (without the artist's consent, which I'm sure they don't have)then yes, they are illegal.

But as I said, no one really bothers about copy right laws in Sri Lanka. All I am saying is that if someone wants to sue you, then they can (and you will loose), but no one will bother.
