Guys if you got your messenger locked up then clear the cache in "Windows Live Contacts" folder

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_XP_USERNAME_HERE\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts\

Replace C: with the drive letter of your Windows partition.
Replace YOUR_XP_USERNAME_HERE with your windows XP login or the user account name.

Finally did it..
For Vista these are the steps..
I got them from Windows Live help..

1. On the taskbar, right-click Start, and then select Explore.
2. Navigate to the folder C:\Users\Your Windows logon name\Contacts\Your Messenger e-mail address.
3. Delete all of the files in the folder.
4. Navigate to the folder C:\Users\Your Windows logon name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts\Your Messenger e-mail address.
5. Delete all of the folders and hidden folders in the Your Messenger e-mail address folder.
6. Close Windows Explorer and try to sign in to Messenger again.
