When was this? But it's one of their pastimes. I have read about this happening in Canada and elsewhere too - by the Chinese students.

Every country has plant protection acts and these materials are subject to quarantine. Haven'y you noticed the signage in many places in KIA advising passengers not to bring in any plant material including fresh fruits.
Even though incoming passengers to SL carry apples, grapes etc - it is really illegal to do so.

Soon every traveller will have to be quarantined for safety once they step onto foreign soil. A virus carrier could be more disastrous than a suicide killer. Countries would need to take precautions.

Had all other countries quarantined all travellers in late January, then the impact of Covid could have been minimised. Sadly China hid the truth till everyone got exposed.

The bigger worry is that even with a Covid vaccine, things are doubtful. There's a very strong possibility that the effectiveness of the vaccine will only last a few months.
Recent studies done on recovered patients found that more than 90% had steep declines in levels of SARS-CoV-2–specific immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies within 2–3 months of infection.
The dramatic reduction in IgG antibodies has created doubt over whether SARS-CoV-2 infection provides long-term protection against subsequent exposure to the virus. :(
