Okay, well, TECHNICALLY thiese are sites for home-made (fan) videos and public domain movies etc. In the list to the right of your screen you will see many OLD movies that are in the Public Domain---HE WALKED BY NIGHT, DICK TRACY MEETS GRUESOME, HIS GIRL FRIDAY, etc etc. You will ALSO see items that are CLEARLY undercopyright. Such as I, Robot, Doom, the Rocky Horror Picture Show, etc etc. These ARE in violation of international copyright and should NOT be there. And they usually get removed within about 72 hours. But XxX.net is NOT responsible for what subscribers upload (only for getting it removed as soon as it is reported).
So what ends up happening? USUALLY people see something they want and download it QUICK before it disappears. Technically, this is illegal too, but thee only way you can get in trouble for downloading a copyrighted item from a public website is if YOU turn around and post it somewhere else. As LONG as you ONLY keep it for your own use the studios are not too interested in YOU.
So what happens, well occasionally some subscribers get busted too many times and get banned from the website...sometimes the studio (or copyright owner's) lawyers force the website to disclose the internet address of the person posting the item and they come after them as well (though that is so costly it doesn't happen too often unless the studio sees multiple violations of THEIR copyrighted material. Divx Stage 6 and the BBC have been having difficulties recently over the hugely popular shows DOCTOR WHO and TORCHWOOD and some users there have been banned from the site completely.
But the JUSTIFICATION is that people get exposed to public domain classics and also the creative efforts of other users.
Is that straightforward enough for YOU/US ?
BUT NEITHER OF THIS TROUBLE WILL KEEP US FROM DOWNLOADING / HUNTING FOR DIRECT LINKS RYT.....???
1.Simple advice just download them while u can...before they get removed from these servers !!!
