.NET Framework is not exactly dead yet but on it's way out possibly. There are many applications built around it.
End of the year Microsoft will release a unified platform .NET 5 which is cross platform along with a lot of improvement, new APIs, and changes.

.Net Core is open source. The languages like C# are well organized and easy to maintain legacy codes. The performance of the applications is also unmatchable. Once you master a single language, you can code for any platform. VS Code is one hell of a tool which is also open source. It is just my idea.

" .NET 5 is the evolution of .NET Core. This article details what's included in .NET 5, which is the next release of .NET Core following 3.1. The version number is 5.0 to avoid confusion with .NET Framework 4.x. And "Core" is dropped from the name because it is the main implementation of .NET going forward. ASP.NET Core retains the name "Core" to avoid confusing it with ASP.NET MVC 5. Additionally, Entity Framework Core retains the name "Core" to avoid confusing it with Entity Framework 5 and 6. .NET 5 supports more types of apps and more platforms than .NET Core or .NET Framework. Node.js heavy processing tasks walata hoda na. No support for threads. Not strictly typed - can be good or bad depending on the requirement. Good for I/O tasks like just fetching from databases, Chat apps. Fast development.

.NET Wadiya use krla na. .NET supports threading and bugs will be fixed and supported by Microsoft. Java th same wage tama supported by oracle. So serious clients might prefer to have support. Strictly typed. Thread support.

.Net or Java node walin replace krnna bariwei. .Net and node dekatama hariyana scenarios tiyenawa.

For me .NET , Java godak durata ekawage. E nisa deka athara move wennat puluwan wei.

Object Oriented Programming puluwannam shape eke move wenna puluwan wei. Nathnam mulin poddak OOP conecpts balagena inna wei. Different paradigm.

.NET Framework was first released in 2002. So you might think that it's outdated now, but it's not. Since the introduction of NET Core in 2016, many large scale companies have started to re-platform their old apps. Even we are moving from MVC to .Net core and React nowadays. There are a lot of opportunities available

Yes agree, the same thing happened to me when applying to jobs in other countries. They asked to solve problems on Hackerank, Leetcode etc. But I was comfortable to give solutions, high-level architectures etc. But if you really need to pass those kinds of interviews you have to master it algo, data structures and competitive programming. I think less popular that type of interview in SL. But I've faced similar interview at the London Stock Exchange.

But based on my experience, I've noticed most of algo, data structure experts (not everyone), trying to implement algo or data structures for every problem even if they have simple solutions. It ends up with systems that hard to maintain or implement new features. I think Sri Lankan engineers good at giving solutions, designing, architecture than doing solving algorithms.
