Ok guys getting back on topic, it all boils down to the exact model and features.
    • Fuel economy
    • Driving comfort (depends on suspension), I generally find Nissan cars to have softer suspension compared to Toyota, so the ride is more comfortable.
    • Acceleration (Engine power and torque)
    • Handling (steering, computer aid: traction control, ABS )
    • Space (leg space, cabin space and boot space)
    • Extras (CD players, navigation systems, powered devices)

both Toyota and Nissan cars have these options. So wheres the difference ?

What I meant was that you cant generally say one brand is better than the other. You have to compare specific models; lets say a Nissan Tiida vs a Toyota Corolla and then decide which is better based on the individual characteristics, like Fuel economy, handling etc..

i can say this coz my father owns a
    1)nissan sunny 2007
    2)toyota corrolla 2008
but when campared nissan has a better interior & options(coz my niisa in a wood trimed auto a/c full option model)
cost aroun 4million(and also has the better fuel millage)
but toyota is better in performance and the quality of the product(it hardly breaks down9coz we had a old 1997 ae110 b4))
and when u buy a toyota its value is almost stable
    it keep gettin better
    SO I recommend TOYOTA

People say for sri lankan roads Toyota cars are better because of their suspension systems, but I don't know how accurate these claims are. Personally I think Nissan gives the best bang for the buck in terms of features and extras. IMO high prices of Toyota vehicles in SL are inflated due to the demand and people's perception of the brand name. As a company Nissan has a wider range of cars especially in the high end performance car segment, so personally I like it as a brand (I currently own a 2002 FB 15). But on the other hand, Toyota is well known for their reliability.

Thanx for very useful thoughts but how about its fuel consumption and spareparts cost?

Comparing same level cars, Nissan is better in comfortability and options. But Toyota is better considering the reliability and specially the second hand value in SL.

if the 2003-2004 car is within that budget, go buy that.
Buying a 6/5 year old car is always better than buying a 10/9 year old car!

mmmm.... Nissan is a good make .but not 4 our country. other foreign countries such as Australia , Canada ....etc... thats why always most of the foreiners go for nissan when the come to srilanka. coz toyota / lexus takes the second place n that counties. nissan is the best. but when its comes to srilankan roads ,toyota is the best. coz the engine reliability is better than a nissan . even the other parts...

Yes, buy the newer one. Fewer problems and repairs.

I have a 2002 FB 15 Super Saloon, 1500 cc engine with NEO Lean Burn; overall I’d say it’s a pretty good car, not the best when it comes to acceleration or handling. Cos I’ve driven other 1500cc cars that have much better acceleration. But Fuel economy is pretty good at 11km/l in the city and 18km/l on high way (not in SL), have plenty of boot space, and reasonable amount of leg space. And I like the small things Nissans puts in like arm rests , plenty of cup holders, plenty of compartments to store things, boot access from the rear seat, lights in the glove compartment and boot etc.. Toyota normally overlooks these little features except in their premium grade cars.

    you cant go 4 a Toyota 121 with this budget.minimum u need around 2200000 - 2400000 for a 121 (YOM 2000) . but can go 4 a Nissan FB 15 new Model. the YOM around 2004

definitely toyota because you can get the money back when you sell your toyota back. nissans are crappy they dnt got much reliable engines and the build quality is way worse than toyota.
