I ran into a terrible issue.
handed my nissan B14 (carburetor model) to an AC repair guy to fix the AC..

when i went to collect the car, he started it up, and the engine died. no matter how hard we tried it refused to start.

i blamed the fucker and went home, and told him i need the car back the following day.

the ac fucker has brought in an electrician, and he had been able to start it up momentarily, and the engine died again. the electrician's diagnosis is that Distributor has gone bad..

so i went in looking for a distributor in the wejerama area, only to find that this being an export model you can't find a matching used distributor.. only one place offered one, with a price tag of 15000:shocked:

i asked the bugger to tow the car to my office, and i took the distributor home.

is it possible to buy the ignition trigger unit separately?

could it be the fault of something other than the distributor?

the ignition coil lies at a separate location. checked it. works fine.

in the schematic diagram there should be a separate capacitor somewhere, but i couldn't locate it in the engine bay..

any help would be greatly appreciated.

All this because of a 15k spare part? Try owning a euro car. He he he

that piece of shit doesn't worth 15k.. and i'm not too sure if the fault indeed is in the distributor. it could be the capacitor.. is there anyone with some experience?

Too much tension can stall the engine mchn. What repairs the a/c guy did?If he messed up with the compressor pretty sure the chances are high he messed up the tension.

no the engine cranks up just fine.. but there's no spark. it definitely is in the ignition system.
the reason i'm reluctant to pay 15k is because i'm not 100% convinced replacing it would fix it cuz there are some other ignition related parts scattered across, and don't know how he blew up the ignition system.

and he said it started up once. if the distributor is bad how is it possible to start once more and die again? if an electronic part is dead it should remain dead right?

had kinda same XP machan... mine was the capacitor... Replace it and try once. It'll cost only 200/=..

if it wasn't there, car could not run this far. Cap is a must... AC guy messed it i guess. Try to put one according to the diagram. I did the same and bought it back to life.
