    Dear friend,

It's pleasing to see you have accepted Madhyama Prathipadawa. I invite you to examine carefully (you may have already done it :) ) and choose Madhyama Prathipadawa only after that. I think my comments are not fully relevant to you :).

If my memory is correct what you had quoted is a Chinese proverb. It is endorsed by many. Just because of that we should not conclude it as the Truth; and regard it as a goal in our lives.

Suppose a person fulfills all three requirements. Can we say his/her life is successful just because of that?

What if that child ('hadapu lamaya') dies before the person? Can we say the person's life is successful if he/she laments over the death and goes to the extent of ruining the life?

I've seen people meeting the three criteria leading desperate lives because of other reasons. Haven't you?
If so is it correct to say that: "menna me tika lokaya wenuwen karanna hithata ganna"?

I am sorry to say this: as I feel you had accepted the proverb blindly without thinking about it...

Yes, we should not try to run away from the life
Actually we cannot; unless we keep running all our lives; because there are things we dislike wherever you go (there's one for certain: death). :)
Won't understanding the life help us face it better? :)
    • Just think about people you know. Is there a difference in the way you would react on death of each person? Have you wondered why?
    • Why do most parents lament when a child dies? (they know very well that crying won't help bring the child back). Some people cannot even recover from the shock death of the beloved brings!
    • We hope to live happily. Can we achieve happiness throughout the life? (e.g we catch diseases; sometimes incurable)
    • We have seen people committing suicide on not getting what he/she wishes?
I am not saying that we should be pessimistic; I only want you to think how different a person aware of impermanent ('Anithya') nature of life would react at these situations.

Won't it be great if we can face such scenarios with a calm mind?

Yes, we should help the world (Even not harming the world is a help :) )
Shouldn't we help ourselves? Isn't it because of that we need to understand the nature of life. :)

    Theruwan saranai
