To bring out the Shortcuts on your Screen/Desktop->  Settings/Personal/Home Screen/Home Screen Theme and select Shortcut bar,  you can then select which shortcut to display if goto "Shortcuts". This  will also bring out the "Track" playing being displayed when you open  the Music Player. 2. Tap the Clock to bring out the Clock menu and make your alarm, alarm repeat is now built-in. 3. Tap the "General" or Date (the set Profile besides the clock) and the  Profile selection menu pops out, almost similar to pressing the "Power"  button in all S60, but here the Remove memory is not shown, but "Calendar" shortcut is included and the other profiles as well. 4. If you are on the Numeric Keypad, pressing the [#] key alternately  will toggle the General and Silent Profiles, same as before, which means  long press on zero [0] will bring out bookmarks for the Web. 5. Tapping on the displayed To do or Calendar entry will bring you immediately to that particular item. 6. Tapping the Active Icon on the Top Left (near the battery indicator) will give you shortcuts for any of the active icons. 7. Long press on the Green Call Button will still activate the Voice Command Prompt 8. Long press on the center button is similar to the Long press on the  "Menu" key (the yin-yang key on most S60) which will bring out the menu  for all the active applications. 9. Use Dialer and press # for about 2 seconds will switch the profile  between Silent and General; press and hold 0 will open the web browser;  press and hold 1 will open the voice mailbox 2. If the touch input is not accurate, you could calibrate your screen  at Touch Input-> Touch Screen Calibration -> ( Tap around the 4  dots at the corner) 7. Turning control functions: a. Rotate your screen horizontal or vertical b. Silence your phone for incoming call by rotate your phone with screen facing down. c. Snooze the alarm by rotating phone screen facing down 8. Theme effect will give 3D and transition effect if on but will slow  down your tube considerably. Settings -> Personal -> Themes ->  General -> Themes effects -> On/Off 9. Shortcut to exit application : Press and hold the middle white button then press and hold the program that you wish to quit, an open/exit option will pop out (useful for those haven’t install handy taskman yet) 10. When using handwriting input, slide from left to right is Spacebar, right to left is Backspace 11. Organize your menu by Menu -> option -> organize. Making and receiving phone calls on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic The 5800 is of course above all a  telephone. Here are a few hints and tips on how to make calls as  quickly and easily as possible: How to call someone who you've called recently On the main standby screen, press the phone's green button. This will  bring up a list of recently dialled numbers. Click once on the number  you want to use and then select the phone icon (or the green button if you prefer). How to call someone who has recently called you On the main standby screen, press the phone's green button. When the  list of recent outgoing calls appears, click on the tab at the top of  the screen with an arrow pointing downwards, and you will see a list of  recently received calls. Click once on the number you wish to call back,  then select the phone icon. How to call back a missed call If you've just missed a call or calls, you can see a list of recent  missed calls by just touching the "missed call(s)" message which appears  on the phone's standby screen. If you missed the call some time ago and there's no message on the standby screen, try pressing the phone's green button.  When the list of recent outgoing calls appears, click on the tab at the  top of the screen with a curved arrow pointing upwards. You should now  see a list of missed calls. Click once on the number you wish to call  back, then select the phone icon. The quickest way to call one of your favourite contacts If a contact is one of the four preset favourites on the phone's standby screen, you can call them in two clicks: 1. From the main standby screen, select the photo icon of the contact you want to call. 2. A box appears linked to their photo, select the phone icon to call them. The quickest way to call one of your non-favourite contacts 1. From the main standby screen, select the "Contacts" icon (the address book with a person on the cover). 2. Click once on the person you want to call. 3. Click on the phone button. How to call a normal number On the phone's main standby screen, press the keypad icon at the bottom  of the screen, then dial just like on a real phone keypad. Press the  phone icon to call the entered number. How to access your voicemail / answerphone If your phone network operator has a voicemail (aka answerphone)  service, you can check it on the 5800 using the following method: 1. On the main standby screen, select the keypad icon. 2. On the keypad, hold down the "1" key (the one with the tape logo in it). 3. The phone should now dial your voicemail number. If the number isn't  already stored in the phone it will ask you for it. Contact your phone  network operator if you don't know your voicemail number. How to divert calls (also known as forwarding calls) 1. On the phone's main standby screen, press the white menu button. 2. Select "Settings". 3. Select "Calling". 4. Select "Call Divert", then "Voice Calls". 5. Choose whichever diversion option you want to use, and set a number  to divert to if necessary. (Check with your network operator if you want  to divert to a voicemail number, they should be able to tell you what  your voicemail number is.) 6. If you want to check the status of your call diversion, choose "Options" and then "Check Status". How to see how long a call lasted afterwards 1. On the phone's main standby screen, press the white menu button. 2. Select "Settings". 3. Select "Calling". 4. Select "Call". 5. Select "Summary After Call" and switch it to "Yes". It will now tell you how long each call lasted as soon as it finishes. How to see how long a call is lasting during the call Do the above process but set "Show Call Duration" to "Yes". Can I use the 5800 as a speakerphone? Yes, just select the on-screen speaker button during a call. Here's how to choose your phone's tones, alerts, vibration etc: 1. On the main standby screen, press the white menu button. 2. Select "Settings". 3. Select "Personal". 4. Select "Profiles". 5. Double-click on the profile you normally use (this will usually be "General"). 6. Select "Personalise". 7. Click on whatever you want to alter (for example "Ringing Tone" to  change the call ringtone). Note that there are different ringtones for  ordinary and video calls, and different settings for keypads and  touchscreens. 8. When you've finished altering the settings, press the red button to go back to the main standby screen. To switch to a different profile, tap the standby screen's date and choose the profile you want. How to choose a ringtone from the music player You can also select a ringtone from the 5800's music player, just go to  the track you want to use and select "Options". One of the options will  be "Use Tone", giving you the choice of using it as the ringtone for the  current profile, or as the tone for a specific person. **************************************************  ******** How to make video calls on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic The  5800 has a built-in secondary camera in the top right corner of the  front of the phone, which is mainly intended for videophone calls. You  can make and receive video calls very easily, in fact they're almost as  easy as ordinary calls. Video calls will only work if you're in a 3G or 3.5G network, so make  sure you can see the 3G or 3.5G logo under the call signal bar in the  top left corner of the screen before attempting to make a video call. Note that video calls usually cost more than ordinary phone calls. If  you're unsure how much they cost, ask your phone network operator about  their video call charges. How to make a video call to people in Contacts (the address book) 1. From the main standby screen, select the Contacts icon (the person icon). 2. Double-click on the person you want to call. 3. Select "Options". 4. Select "Call" and then "Video Call". How to make a video call to people who aren't in Contacts 1. From the main standby screen, select the Dialler icon (the keypad icon). 2. Enter the number you wish to call. 3. Select "Options". 4. Select "Call" and then "Video Call". How to activate your video automatically when receiving video calls If you receive a video call, for privacy reasons the phone will ask you if you want to switch on your camera. However, if you prefer you can set it to automatically switch on your camera when receiving video calls: 1. From the main standby screen, press the white menu button. 2. Select "Settings". 3. Select "Calling". 4. Select "Call". 5. Select "Own Video In Received Call", and set it to "Show Automatically". 6. Press the red button to get back to the standby screen. **************************************************  ****SMS and MMS text messaging hints for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic SMS stands for Short Message Service,  but is more commonly known simply as text messaging or texting. The  5800 supports both normal texts (aka SMS) and multimedia messages (aka  MMS), which can include photos, sounds, video clips and other  attachments. You can access your received messages through the "Messaging" icon on  the main menu screen, which also lets you see an archive of the last 20  sent messages, drafts and other features. Messaging is pretty easy to use and very similar to text message systems  on other phones, so we're going to concentrate on some general hints  and tips rather than explaining everything in detail. On the main standby screen, select the Contacts icon (the icon of a person). 2. Click once on the name you want to send a text to. 3. Select the envelope icon at the bottom of the screen. 4. Select the body of the text to write the message. 5. When you've finished writing the message, select the envelope icon to send it. If the number you want to text isn't a favourite and isn't in Contacts: 1. On the main standby screen, select the Dialler icon (the icon of a keypad). 2. Enter the number to which you want to send the text. 3. Select "Options", then "Send Message". 4. Select the body of the text to write the message. 5. When you've finished writing the message, select the envelope icon to send it. How to tell if someone has received your message There's a very useful feature of most phone networks called a delivery  report, which tells you when one of your text messages has arrived. It's  very easy to switch this feature on, and it can be very useful. 1. From the main standby screen, press the white menu button. 2. Select "Messaging". 3. Select "Options". 4. Select "Settings". 5. Select "Text Message". 6. Select "Receive Report" and make sure it says "Yes". 7. Press the red button to get back to the standby screen. The phone will now report when a message has been received by its  recipient. A report doesn't mean they've read it, but it does mean that  it has arrived on their phone. These reports should be free of charge on most phone networks, but if  you're unsure contact your phone network operator and ask if they charge  for such reports. How to send the same message to lots of people at once While editing the message, just select the "Add Recipient" button (the person next to a + sign) more than once. Note that if you send a single message to several people, you will be charged for several text messages. How to create and send a multimedia message (MMS) Just write the text message as normal, but click on the paperclip icon  to attach a multimedia file from your phone. A menu will appear which  will let you choose which file to attach, and it will include options  for creating new files specially for the message. Important Note: Most phone networks charge more for sending a multimedia  message than a normal text message.
