The nokia N900 is not a phone , It's a Internet tablet, and it's not running on Symbian.....

Its a phone. N800 is only a Internet tablet. But this is a phone + internet tablet

I think this gonna kill N97, as reported this has latest ARM Cortex-A8 600Mhz processor and 256MB RAM + 768MB Virtual Memory, 3D graphic support
N97 has the old ARM 11 434 Mhz processor and only 128RAM

This running on Maemo Linux OS which will give better performance and good open source community support too.

oh now seems like some1 wasted money on n97 :P

its gonna be announced in this September and will be available late this year. They say cost around 550 Euro. But i think it will cost same like N97 now.

    It has a big screen 800x480 compared to 360 x 640 pixels in N97

Due to fast processor and hell lot of memory it will run things very fast and will have lot of animation and stuff in the UI.

As i remember this is the same processor that latest Iphone 3GS use. Which can even play 1080p video files.

I think ARM 11 and ARM Cortex-A8 kinda belongs to the same generation, Cortex is aimed at power efficient computing while ARM11 is aimed at scalable computing, at least that is what I read on an ARM press release. Since they are two different chips I don't think we can compare the performance based on raw clock speed. However, more RAM + hardware 3D acceleration will definitely give N800 an edge in UI rendering performance.

I'm not a big fan of Mobile Linux. There were few Linux mobiles here and there before as well, but they never really stood out from the rest. I think it will take a while for Linux to catch up with the support and application base of Symbian.

Samsung Omnia HD has it too.
