[QUOTE="warwickuni, post: 27166372, member: 101444"] The ground situation in Sri Lankan and Pak cannot be compared . Pak became a failed state for many years and there was no democracy like SL and India. There were several coups too. Corruption is also more compared to SL and India. They were pawns of super powers too (compared to SL and India). So the killing of partner of British nurse was not the same as killing of Srilankan in Pak. though in both killings were done by locals of foreigner. In sri lanka killing was instrumental by local politician and it was witnessed by lot of people due to a private argument . So this had noting to do with even local politics or ideology and there was no mass support to the heinous crime. In contrast Sri Lankan who was killed in a Factory by workers and they did lynching in the name of religion . TeLP openly advocate killing any person for blasphemy. They want to use Nuclear Weapon against Dutch!! for defaming religion relating to a cartoon!! Imran Khan is sympathetic towards extremists including LeT, Taliban, etc. TeLP is a force to be reckoned with as fifth largest party and they virtually brought govt to standstill on long March 2 months ago and killed 7 policemen in the march and incidents relating to it. They only thrive on Blasphemy Law and its implementation, a popular theme. TLP wanted french ambassodor to be expelled due to what french present said relating to freedom of speech and blasphemy. The march was successful as Imran and TLP came to an agreement!! Just a month ago. So do not expect any justice from Imran in this case. The stakes are very high for him . He will buy time and there will not be a successful prosecution . You can see that even police did not interfere to stop burining of dead body -which was far worse than killing a person. This is a barbaric act and when brain washed. These things are possible (JVP and PRAA , LTTE also did these for glorification of the cause, Al queda , Taliban, Mujahedin also did ) when a person is bling duee to religion or race!(TeLP had not taken responsibility same as JVP, LTTE, PRAA etc) SL govt can impose some pressure and I am sure they will do that (if not done so far) but we must understand ground reality. My safe bet is there will be a prosecution but there will not be witnesses. CCTV footage and other electronic evidnce will not be preserved for trial hence not applicable. Unless accused pleaded guilty (as an honour ) trial will be a failure. Even if few are convicted , which is the maximum Pak can do , very next day there will be call to pardon in the name of religion and TeLP will start another march!! So there will not be a conviction like Rajiv Ghandi killer or Brton's killer. Already Imran Khan's very senior Minister openly gave an open cheque to TeLP for lynching on the basis that they were 'young' . This murder is not a religious one . The workers were against GM and they used this small incident to take revenge from him for his style of managment. we cannot rule out effect of pandemic on garment industry workers where most of the suppliers did not honour their contracts and companies pilled big inventories without cash!! So income of the workers whould have impacted and they were against the managment and specially foreign GM who whould have taken unpopular decisions.
