I bought a Power Tree UPS few years back from PC house. Those days there was no brand like Panora. Anyway that UPS also came with com port cables, software CD, books manual etc. But in the same way software failed to detect the UPS. Later when the warranty was over I opened the UPS, then I found its all fake only the port exists, no electronics or no connection to UPS batteries. Its just pure fooling from outside.

When PC House introduced the Panora brand they rebranded the Power Tree UPSs and Philips Monitors as Panora. Any way after sometime they wanted to make more profit so they started to give chinese monitors and UPSs in Panora brand.
Its basically like those Chinese motor bicycles, they ask the chinese manufacturer to make cheap product and print Panora logo. Then they import. As i know PC house not making any single product in Sri Lanka. They import everything with cheap brands or unbranded products labeled as Panora from China and other asian countries.

I talked with IE, one of the awards winning entrepreneurs in Srilankan. Coz they were really making UPS and other high end power products in Sri Lanka and exporting them. Now they also import so called US brand and assemble it in here coz they can't manage the cost with the cheap imports in the Market. But they still make high end UPS and Power products in Srilanka. As i know their products are high quality and that new assembled one called Defender or something seems to be good and have lot of features too. They are selling betties too so you can power up your dead UPS with new rechargeable batteries.

Anyway if you wanna go for the best the reputable brand it is APC, and really they are good. I don’t know how it compares with IE products. But as I know go for IE Brands (Defender etc..) or APC you can't go wrong.

GTRZ, it's not PC House's fault that the com port didn't work.

I have the S600B model and it also has the com port, but I think its not wired to the circuitry as well. Well, PowerTree says that S600B model doesn't support the software features, and I didn't get a CD unlike you. S600B stands for Basic model. I can't remember which model is supposed to support the software control functions, but it's something like S600C.

hehe.. so u guyz thought Panora was made by PC house
all they do is get bank loans n import cheap stuff, which they sell for a really big margin..
they r in such a big debt that they hav to pay around 5 lakhs a day to da bank.
now its loosing business caz people r gettin more computer literate n choose alternatives to pc house.
well for UPSs i think APC is da best but is quite rare n expensive. Extreme computers used to import them but not anymore..
The next best alternative i suggest is Prolink.. There r 3 of them at my place n worx really well. so far no prob.

That UPS came with com port cable, software CD, instructions manual for software to connect the UPS to PC etc.. Its not unsupported software as PowerTree claims.
There is no connection with the circuit. It’s just a port connected to the UPS wall. So what software you use still it'll not work for sure.

Maybe they bundled the wrong version of the UPS with your package

haha no can't be even box says it. And all diagrams showing this UPS. And why on earth they fix a com port if its not connected
There was a model without that PC connect feature too and its lot different than this :D
You said your model also has a com port but still its not connected to the circuit too. So its not a mistake.

But mine didn't come with the software or cable. Anyways, I have to get rid of this UPS as soon as I can afford a good one. I want one that can hold the PC at least 15 minutes.

I would rate Prolink at the same level with Panora. Both brands should be banned from households

com port is there so PC house ppl have robbed cable and Cd from your box ;) Jk

Ya go for IE's Defender or some brand they sell. 1K+ Its same price like Power tree. My bud got a 2K and it can hold his huge rig around 40mins :P You know whoz and what stuff he has plugged in to it. :D And its has lot of nice features, info in the software and lot of indicators itself in the UPS too. Like batt level, load, error etc..

GTRZ, I have the same thing and yea it has no connection to the Serial Circuit Board. Also you may not know that the S650B does not have surge protection (that is protection from lightning surges and stuff) so its a risky UPS to run a PC on. But its a heavy duty UPS and can last a few years due to its simple circuit.

Anyway, I saw this ad on the paper about VENCE so I went there and bought a 1KVA (1000VA) Defender UPS. It was Rs. 5750/- but when the tax was added I was shocked that the total price was Rs. 6612/- (Yay for the people?). It has everything I need and it supports Winpower :D.

VENCE is one company I know that gives something good. They also have a 30 day money back plan and also a 2 year warranty.
