Pearson and Sysco leaving SL

Iv heard Pearson had left the country and given 2 year severance packages for their employees. Heard Sysco labs also panning to leave. Any updates on this and any other companies planning to cease their SL operations.

Pearson might leave and gave VRS for some employees. There is a possibility of shifting the Pearson Offshore Tech Center (the one in SL aka Pearson Lanka) to India in future.

But SyscoLABS is not going anywhere mate.

While they can secure their salary from unfair tax cuts this way, won't this put the employees' jobs at risk? Since they are just contract consultants, LK labor laws also will not be applied to them

Not entirely true. Some ops have been moved to India. Few support teams have been given VRS cos they were idle as Pearson moved to AWS.
Some US teams also given VRS and asked to leave. So far no impact on devs and qas in Sri Lanka. But they are downgrading team sizes in SL and move them to India. Not a good sign.
