In my office i have local P2P net using thru desktop switch 16 port connected upto 6 desktop PCs.

I have not setup a Domain server or proxy server in the network.

i have re-config the default ip address from 192.168.x.x TO 165.254.x.x of the Dialog Router to match the ip addresses range given to the 6 pcs

This Dialog router LAN port i hv connected to the desktop switch port. Using the crossover wiring ethernet cable to connect both switch and Dialog router.

Then i have configured each PCs default gateway ip address to Dialog router default ip address 165.254.x.x. (This is what you do when assigning manual ip address, subnet mask, and the default gateway ip address)

It is working. I have disabled all default Windows firewall settings.

Would this way of configuration make it vulnerable to attacks.

What are your recommendations? How should i config to give Internet access to all my 6 pcs thru the ethernet from the Dialog router without making major changes to ip address settings of each PC and without having vulnerability of attacks from the Internet.

I am not willing to change IP address settings of each PC to be obtained Automatically. I don't want to activate Firewall settings cos of compromising other software network access that is required without Firewalls.

    PLEASE ADVISE. Thank you.
