plZZZ help!!! I cnt install direct x 9 c

i cnt install direct x 9c..even i went through all the steps i couldnt do it..when i go 2 dxdiag it shows the old direct x 9b...

i hv p4 2 gig proseccor,,256mb geforce 5500 vga card..256 mb ram..windows xp sp2

plzzzz help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a similar problem when i tried to install 9c.(didn't installed correctly)
So I extracted the exe file I downloaded and launched the extracted setup. It worked for me. Try it.

Best thing is not to play games
Maybe you can reinstall Windows and try again. But I can't promise you it will work then either.

pls install win xp service pack 2 2005 edition it also have diretx 9.c

Most probably the problem is with your windows copy......I also had this problem with sp2 2002 version.........try a different copy of windows as chanakacm said
