Police hunt teenager in rape of minor

The police were yesterday hunting for a teenager in connection with the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl in a remote village in Vavuniya.

According to police, the suspect is a close relative of the victim and is alleged to have repeatedly raped her for the past five months.

The incident came to light after the victim entered into advanced pregnancy, and the parents brought the matter to the notice of the police.

Police believe that the suspect may have fled the area to Colombo.
