A tense situation arose in Mattakkuliya late this evening between an angry mob and the Mattakkuliya police. The incident arose after a suspected drug addict who was arrested by the police injured his arm while in police custody.
The suspect had been taken to hospital for treatment, police spokesman SP Preshantha Jayakody told Daily Mirror online. Meanwhile the army was deployed to the area to bring the situation under control.
