Residents in the area claimed that the police arrested several youth who  were not involved in last night’s incident. They also charged that  their property was damaged by the army and the police early this  morning. However police spokesman S.P Priyashantha Jayakody denied the  allegations saying the police or the army have no reason to damage the  property of the area residents. “We sent several teams to bring the  situation under control with the help of the army”, he said.  On receiving information that the drug dealer who was arrested yesterday  was injured while in police custody, residents of the area had  attempted to attack the police station with clubs, iron bars and stones  last night, the police said.
