I don't understand what you are asking... LAN IP is not the same as WAN IP or public IP. If everything is working for you then good. What is the problem ??
To forward a port in a router you need a fixed local (LAN) IP on the computer. Port forwarding means that what ever request comes to a specific port of the router from outside will be forwarded to a specific port on a specific computer behind the router. If you have DHCP then your local IP can change every time you restart the computer, if that happens then port forwarding rules will not work.
This only applies to routers.
