if u want just buy one, don't think about money that much
Anyway, I don't see the point of paying USD1200 for a CPU when you can get a 2.4GHz Quady for 1/5th that price. Both have the same multiplier, and Q6600 can climb up to a very good position when overclocked. QX9650 will only be slightly faster.

But QX9650 also can be overclocked right? when it is overclocked original difference is still there.:P

Of course you can overclock it. But the end clock speeds are very clock. You can overclock the Q6600 to 3.3-3.4GHz and QX9650 to around 3.6-3.8GHz on stock cooling. The performance difference is much less than the price difference. Way less!!!

12mb cache doesn't give much or any performance gains, because you get diminishing returns with increasing the cache size.

    eg:
2MB vs. 4MB might give a tangible performance difference. But 4MB vs. 8MB might not.

    Yeah.. Q6600 is about 300 $ QX9650 is about 1200 $ :S.Even though the price is x4 I dont think that QX9650 has x4 performance than Q6600

If we make it simple :D

conclusion :- QX9650 is really a waste of money at this time:rolleyes:
But if someone had the money to burn, so be it. In the end of the day, it is these enthusiasts who make the mainstream prices go down. (I don't know about Intel, but nVidia for example, is making the biggest profits (not profit margins, because obviously profit margins are very high for highend cards :P) from these enthusiast level cards.)
