All-in-one? You mean the hardware? If it's the hardware, yeah, their designs are cool. But you know, you can't upgrade them as you upgrade a PC.

I have used an iMac server with 4GB RAM and a 24+ inch monitor (not sure the size) and dual dual-core CPUs (i.e. 4 cores). This is at an exhibition. :)

That design is nice and even good for normal people. But we are not normal, are we? We plug in a friend's hard disk, we upgrade the hardware etc. ne? :)

I had this argument with one of my friends. He was gonna buy an iMac when he was looking for a new PC because of the design as well as because you can install Vista in them. But I explained to him why it wasn't a good idea, especially for him, because he adds new hard disks like crazy. He already has a 120GB, a 200GB, a 250GB and a 300GB. And he's already paid for a 500GB and will be replacing the 120GB because he doesn't have any vacant ports to connect it. It's not a good idea for a person like him to go for that design :)

Why ? iMac doesnt support those HDD capacities ? though if he's adding HDD like that, he's better off using an external HDD rack or a SAN solution.

It's not about capacity. The AIO design only supports two HDDs. So the upgrading is restricted. If he buys one, he'll be keeping it at least for 3.5 years. He will definitely need new drives before he throws it out.

He thought of going for a rack. But he doesn't usually play with the HDDs. Once they are fixed, they stay fixed.

well, here's my desktop :
Its at 1024x768 res even though the attached pic is only 640x480.
(hmm... even though it says max res allowed is 1024x768 cant upload a pic with those dimensions as it usually comes to around 60kb while the allowed file size is 39 kb)

Don't attach files. Upload it to an image sharing site (eg: imageshack.us) and post the thumbnail code here.
