Breaking news - PRABHAKARAN INJURED
LTTE Supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran has sustained minor injuries in an attack carried out by the Air Force in late November.
According to informed sources, though the nature of the injuries is minor, he had been treated in an underground facility in a secret location in the Wanni by the LTTE’s Thileepan Medical Unit, the official emergency care unit of the LTTE.
However, it appears that the government and the Air Force are unaware of this incident.
The November 28 attack by the Air Force near Jeyanthy Nagar in Kilinochchi hit the underground bunker in which Prabhakaran was staying between 12 noon and 1 p.m.
A section of the bunker had crumbled and some falling debris had struck the LTTE Leader by accident and he received minor injuries.
Publishing the above photograph of Prabhakaran the website said,”Imagine Pirabhakaran without wife and children living alone in the Punitha Bhumi in Vanni!”
The LTTE is keeping the incident under wraps in order to prevent a loss of morale among its cadres. In addition, it does not wish to give the government security forces a boost in morale.
Three Sri Lanka Air Force planes, believed to be Israeli built K-fir jet bombers, had commenced the aerial bombardment on suburban areas of Kilinochchi town. At least 12 bombs, believed to be of the MARK-80 variety, were dropped in the vicinity in and around Kilinochchi and Jeyanthy Nagar, which consists of six separate housing schemes.
The township is situated along the road to Uruthirapuram and is closely located to Karadipokku Junction, along the A9 Highway.
In what could best be described as a bizarre coincidence, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in an interview with the AFP on the same day asserted that the government’s objective was to weaken the LTTE and defeat it militarily in order to take control of the Wanni.
Ironically, in the course of that interview, Rajapaksa said, “We are after him. We are specifically targeting their leadership. For the last few months he has been even more restricted in his movements. We want to keep them under pressure.”
