All private bus operators have threatened to withdraw buses from operation from Sunday midnight in protest of the government's failure to provide them fuel at susidized rates after the price revision on Saturday midnight.
Gemunu Wijeratne, the President of the Private Bus Association told Timesonline that were assured by Treasury Secretary Dr. P.B.Jayasundara on Saturday morning that a scheme will be put into operation to ensure that they are given fuel at a cheapter rate.
"We were not told when the increase is coming, but were told there will be a scheme in operation when the revision takes place. We do not see such mechanism in place.
In one of the biggest Diesel price revisions effected a litre of diesel was increased by Rs. 31 or by 35 per cent compared to the existing price.
