    Doctors pay in England:

no machan....i think i get more in UK...
Comfortable life style... Best Technology Small Class-Rooms Individual attention...
I get 2 years work permit...
    for 1 month 20000 Punds=Rs.3000000
    For 12 months I get Rs.36000000
Isn't it good...In Sri Lanka monthly doctor gains only Rs.50000.00

This is foolish, Sri Lankans think England is a heaven.
For your information: Doctors in England get around 18,000 to 24,000 pounds per year not per month. They have to work under a white doctor. Especially when doctors come from the third world countries they are treated as garbage. When these Sri Lankan doctors come back to Sri Lanka they tell all kinds of big stories and hide the hard ships they went through.

Private Medical Colleges in Sri Lanka.

Well done , this is a must in Sri Lanka, Only very few among those who pass A/L get a field which they are interested in university study. Those who able to send their children abroad have the opportunity to study Medicine so what will be the destiny of the children of poor parents those who can not afford their children's future studies.
Don't be inhumane ,students of government medical colleges ,dont get upset the competition will make much more better medical staff in Sri Lanka.
According to the selection system as a poor developing country in Sri Lanka , some times those who take less marks get the opportunity to become doctors while some bright students loss the chance and do some other things.
Government itself can not afford free education for the whole country, when private universities are there those who have money will go to them and there will be more chances for the poor students at govenment universities.
But government has a duty to moniter these institutes and there should be an authority to maintain and regulate the standards of these colleges. Specially the medical field needs a close monitering system.

Every where in the world now you can see private universities . They have a very good reputation and most of the world famous medical colleges are private universities. This is the truth. Though you become a graduate of a government university or private university the chance to be given for the skills but not for the paper qualifications.

As a very prehitoric country we have had great native physicians those who ware experts than current medicos. So keep in mind in future people will respect not to the sertificate but to the skills. So let this happen , everybody should get equal chances. I know few rich students those who did A/L in commerce have become Medical Doctors after gaining russian degrees , i am not justifying it .Medical colleges aslo should have some base line in recruiting students. Idiots have no chance anywhere. so what is the fate of poor sri lankan students those who can not afford foriegn education . Let them fulfill their dreams in the motherland.

Open your eyes think globally and work locally.
The better sinhala word for this phenominan is the "KUHAKAKAMA" Dont be KUHAKAYO.

it's oky to have a engineering degree or a MSC by a forign universiaty.

Look at me , I failed to enter to the MPR @UoM then I'm doing BIT , anyway
I still continuing the drams to be an engineer. But for a doctor the story is
different. Because they playing with the human lives.

No forign uni student doctors should not give doctor jobs in sri lanka. This is not
    good.

In the field of medicine there is a difference. See how much difficult to get a medical degree inside sri lanka ? It's harder than any other degree . So I think this is not good . Doctors should have that skill level before they playing the human body.

mchn engineers r dealing wit human lives than doctors...

if a doctor gives d wrong medicine nly 1 prsn wud b affected.. but think f a huge building or a bridge or even medical equipments and medicines.... these all are designed and implemented by engineers.... so an eng z mch more responsible thn a doc.... if u wna b n eng jz knw d@ well....

if u cudn enter d uni of Mora jz lstn 2 wt do d lecturers there, say...

d@z d problem wit d private unis... they nvr mk yo minds to thnk as eng or a doc... apart 4m d@ no probs wit private unis...

i say there must be private unis for all the fields in Sri Lanka...

    definitely a good thing!!
seriously you can't measure someone directly through A/L's.. well that's my idea.. so people with true talents would end up doing some shitty things.
    * obviously money will be retained in Sri Lanka
    * parents would be damned happy to keep their children home instead of somewhere miles away
    * definitely there will be a good competition between Gov uni students and this. which will make the road to new era of medical education
    * students with less skills won't be given the chance to kill patients alive..that's so obvious, I'm disappointed about that factor which you guys are talking always..
    * please don't think that you guys are the most intelligent and skillful people in Sri Lanka only because you passed A/L's with really good results..if you are that much skillful students. please don't worry.. you will be given the exact place..

The basis for getting the opportunity to study something should be the suitability of that person for the job. In fields which require a lot of thinking, planning and decision making, the selection should be based on that. This is the current system we have-A/L exam acting as a filter. It'll be nice if we could find a way to test how creative the person is, how kind and service oriented, how hard working the person will be etc. At any rate money should not be the selection criterion. It has nothing to do with the suitability for these fields.

I don't say A/L is a sufficient filter to find suitable persons to enter the medical, legal or engineering fields. And there are people who find loopholes in it and alter their true results and get to these fields. But at least, educational excellence is a better criterion than how much money one's parents have.

    Wrong decision !!!!

I think you people agree to this, because you people are not in the medical field!!!

Currently the students who get the highest ranks/Z score in A/L exam , get selected to medical faculties in Sri Lanka, As you all know, the brainy, Bright, Most intelligent bunch of students enter the medical faculties!!! I think all of you agree with that!!
And if someone says that A/L is not a correct way to measure the true potential of a student, I can get an idea about that persons intelligence and the potential!!!:lol::lol::lol:

To become a doctor, you need to memorize lot of things, anatomy of the body, physiology of the body, pharmacolgy, microbiology etc, its not an easy task!! But sad to see yet some people still think its a piece of cake!!

As private medical college offer degree to low IQd, less intelligent people, patients cant expect a proper service from them!!
Also ptivate medical college still doesnt have bodies to dissect, a hospital for clinical practises, experienced teachers, so the we have to assume their knowledge will be lower than the students of government medical faculties.
You wont understand it by now, you will understand it future, when you go to private medical college graduate to get some medicine!!When you suffer from their wrong diagnosis/treatment wisdom will come to you:rofl::rofl::rofl:

is it a crime to have a private medical school??

jst becoz certain politicians want to be in power they start these kind of unwanted problems .

well for the quality of study in private universities. well obviously its going to be better than state universities ne. coz no union strikes and fights and etc etc etc. and also students will be more concentrating on learning rather than playing da fool as they are paying for them. and also even if sum bloody ministers son joins this place to play da fool, he obviously cant be a doctor coz do b a doctor in SL u need to pass da SL medical council exams. or else u wont b certified as a doctor. and to pass the course u hav to do a foreign exam which is obviously more tough than a local exam as long as i know.

and also regarding entry. seriously u think sum bugger who fails his AL's will b admitted?? r u mad men. obviusly wen its private the organisation will be more considered abt their reputation than their fees. go and see all these universities in the UK and all. even in india. who well they are without talking nonsense here!

    :no::no::no::no: Wrong
Yes it,s a crime!! We are talking about PEOPLES LIVES here!! we cant allow a bunch of idiots to play with human lives

:lol: Can you show me a MEDICAL FACULTY with strikes and fights???
DO you know that state universities have solid, excellent educational system?? Do you know how many repeated from exams even due to the lack of knowledge of simple things??

:rofl::rofl: and dont talk about indian degrees, all know how they are

Machan If someone failed from A/L you can't say he or she is not good to be a doctor. As I know most of our bright girls and boys are failed because of Competition.

Source-My Father worked in Intwernational Medical Corp. as a Doctor. And he used to tell about we are far away from Education.

:eek::eek: Then the answer for that should be>>> increase Z score based university entrance, and diminish District basis, then more bright people from col/gampaha can enter medical faculties

The cost is Rs. 6.5M, and it's lot cheaper in Nepal, India, Latvia etc. than that.

Why not have paid students admitted to government Medical Schools? Are they are really worried that they cannot compete with non-paying students ? Why should a new university spring up? 20 students to each batch in 6 universities will result in 120 paying students, which is a big amount.

Utter blasphemous. This university is established under BOI by a foreign company. Guess where the exchange is going to go.

The students who study medicine are 23+. If they get rotten after that, they'll get rotten irrespective of the place. If a society can change a medical student like that he is not fit for the profession. Then, even local graduates get in to contact with worst of the people. Criminals, prostitutes, killers etc, are met in every medical students training period.

And such degrees are not recognised by SLMC, who maintains a list of eligible universities. Students have to chose from them. Then how confidenttly we can say this particular university is going to be better than them?

Where are they going to find human resources?

    well said bro:):):)

How? UOC offers a MBBS which is par with any leading university in the world. 95% of other foeign universities offer a degree lesser in quality than UOC.

When was medical faculties of Colombo, Pera, Ragama, SJP and Jaffna closed due to pickets, riots or what so ever cause? Never in last 5 years. Medical students are smart enough not to be pawns of JVP. They'll do the politics, but they won't let the university close.

Any ass with quarter a brain can pass Act 16 exam. If there's going to be a PMC some day, let all the medical students (GMCs and PMCs) face the same examinations

You are sadly mistaken about exams. Even Harvard or Oxford papers are like pieces of cake for us. Let them have a MCQ of UOC-FM. They'll pass shit on their pants.

How old are you? Must be around 18. There was a PMC called North Colombo Medical School (which was absorbed in to government sector to be affiliated to university of Kelaniya). There were students who have failed all four subjects in A/Ls. It has ahppened once, and can very well happen once more.
