According to the Chairman of the Funeral Committee, Dr. Ruvan </p><p>Weerasinghe, the Minister of Public Administration and Home Affairs, </p><p>Honorable Karu Jayasuriya chaired a meeting this morning with the </p><p>members of the funeral committee to discuss the funeral arrangements of </p><p>the late Professor. </p><p></p><p>Accordingly, the funeral of late Professor V.K. Samaranayake will now </p><p>take place at 4.00 pm on 13th June 2007 at the Independence Square. </p><p></p><p>The remains of late Professor V.K. Samaranayake are currently lying at </p><p>his residence in Jayanthi Mawatha, Ethul Kotte. Tomorrow, 13th June at </p><p>9.30 am, after the religious ceremony, his remains will be taken to the </p><p>Professor V.K. Samaranayake auditorium at the University of Colombo </p><p>School of Computing (UCSC) for the public to pay their last respects. </p><p>The Late Professor’s remains will then be taken to </p><p>Independence Square </p><p>in a procession leaving the University of Colombo at 3 pm. </p><p></p><p>All who wish to participate in this procession are requested to gather </p><p>under their respective banners at the Reid Avenue entrance to the </p><p>University grounds. The procession will proceed along Reid Avenue and </p><p>Independence Avenue to arrive at Independence Square at 4.00 pm.</p></blockquote><p></p>
