He's just a mouthpiece. That's the only reason why he was appointed in the first place to seek advice. Its anyone's obvious guess what was going to happen - provided that person had a brain at least the size of two peanuts. :P

Just listened to the first few minutes. Dunno about the rest but what he says about highways is somewhat true. There must be a priority list when doing such large scale projects. Wouldn't modern train system where everyone can use connecting cities across better than highways????

There must be a priority list and a PROPER feasibility study before commence anything. If there was one we would not have an international airport in Mattala, a convention centre in Hambantota, 4 lane expressways in Hambantota, an international cricket ground in Suriyawewa, new airlines which does not generate any profits and many more bullshit around the country.

Transport in SL, especially in Colombo must be in the priority list. If a transport PROBLEM exists in Colombo, a SOLUTION must be given to Colombo. NOTHING ELSE will solve the problem. If the problem exists in Colombo, a modern train system connecting all cities around the country will DEFINITELY be dogshit just like the others I have mentioned above. Nothing more. And there MUST be A GENUINE FEASIBILITY STUDY before implementation of any project, not a feasibility study by Gonruwan,Gota, Prasanna Ranathunga or any other idiot. Otherwise, they(politicians and their henchmen) can FAKE it now and you(the general public) will be whining again in another 5 years. 🤣Think about Rajagiriya flyover. No one can fake basic engineering principles.

If government has no money to launch a FEASIBLE project, that's because they wasted a lot of funds for projects that are NOT FEASIBLE. But there's nothing to do. You have to accept that and move on. You have to accept the fact a proper project will cost such amount of funds. Cutting costs and changing the project scope as per politicians' needs not only will get things worse, but also will remain a huge pile of loans without any usable work.

So blame the idiotic politicians who did such bullshit using our money in the past and the people who vote for them. Can you identify who are they? Your name may also appear in that list who voted for them. So don't allow them to do it today as well. You must have voted Gota, but do not justify or believe everything that they say.

Finally, to summarise the need is A PROPER/GENUINE FEASIBILITY STUDY and NO ONE CAN FAKE BASIC ENGINEERING PRINCIPLES.

Anybody who calls himself as an 'educated' means others are not so educated. But education does not come from theory alone . Authors such as Martin Wickremasingh and G.B.Senanayake were not educated beyond 8th grade , but were able to write books unlike shinhala prrofessors who cannot author a single book like them.

V(k)iyath mage consisted of such people who claims themselves as Educated but ..

True story. Mattala airport, ckt ground, conference hall are pure waste of money. Now we r in a shitload of ddebt and can't even afford a better solution like LRT. By saying modern train system I was comparing the higways. For example isn't it better if we had proper train system where everyone can travel comfortably from galle to cmb rather than the highway ?

This country will have to have both modern highways and railway systems eventually. The important thing is to get them prioritised. When Colombo is screaming for a solution for the traffic problem there's no point in developing a roadway elsewhere in the country instead.

Wat abt decentralizing things? Letting ppl get their work done locally rather than coming to colombo. Giving facilities to schools so that langama pasala is hondama pasala. Promote pvt companies to hv their offices elsewhere. WFH concepts. Digitalizing stuff etc etc.

Of course things have to be decentralised. That is and has been happening over the years. This includes what you say about offices being established outside Colombo for public's convenience, and langama pasala is hondama pasala concept.
However, I know through experience that popular (established) schools and schools with an 'English speaking background' will always be more in demand than the others, irrespective of the facilities offered in both schools. The reason why I say this is that the Old Boys (or Girls) of those popular schools are more established in the society in comparison to the Old Boys of other schools. One major advantage of this comes when the child begins his search for employment. Most often an applicant coming from an 'anglicised school' will succeed over a more qualified another person due to his school background or due to maybe a connection that one of the members of the interview board has with the applicant's school. This is the ground reality as I see it.
And for more successful decentralisation, there are many developed countries that we can take as examples. The bottom line is to find financing.
