QR code scams are on the rise. Several WhatsApp users have been duped.

This is not new. Has been around for quite a while. But seems to be a significant increase these days.
Never trust QR codes from unknown sources. These QR codes can be linked to malware distribution sites too.
There are secure QR reader Apps too if you like to have some protection.
