The Mt. Lavinia police informed the Mt. Lavinia magistrate yesterday that they had only found newspapers published in favour of President Mahinda Rajapaksa -- contrary to their expectations -- during a recent raid at the Leader Publications press.
In a ‘B’ report filed at the Magistrate’s Court, the Mt. Lavinia Police said they were compelled to conduct the raid with a search warrant issued by the Mt. Lavinia magistrate, after they received information that certain pamphlets insulting the President were being printed there,.
A team of twenty five police officers -- including Dehiwala ASP Indika Silva, Mt. Lavinia HQI Mahesh Perera, and the OIC Minor Offences, Mt. Lavinia (SI Padmasiri Kulatunga) -- carried out the raid.
The police officials who participated in the raid informed Court when filing the report that they had not found any printed matter at the Leader Publications press that insulted the President but, rather, found a publication supportive of the President.
