Band Interests: INFORMATION ABOUT RANDHIR’S ‘NAMAL MITAK’ ALBUM
• Randhir - Sri Lanka’s Hip-Hop heartthrob releases his debut album ‘Namal Mitak’ on the 23rd of September 2008 through Universal Music/M Entertainment. Randhir’s debut album is named after his first Sinhalese hit song ‘Namal Mitak’ that captured the hearts and minds of Sri Lankan youth. Music industry experts describe ‘Namal Mitak’ as a musical masterpiece and one of the most unique pop music creations to be released this year.
• The ‘Namal Mitak’ album contains a total of 14 songs [12 in Sinhalese and 2 in English]. Current chart-topping hits from the album include ‘Namal Mitak’, ‘Upuli’, ‘Ojaye [Remix]’ and ‘Kelilola Balmen’. Randhir’s Ojaye [Remix] is currently a super-hit on Sri Lankan radio. ‘Namal Mitak’ blends together soulful ballads with heavy Hip-Hop club anthems and showcases Randhir’s sensuously smooth singing voice and stunning vocal range. The album is one of kind in that it’s the first true example of Sri Lankan Rhythm & Blues or ‘RnB’ [the music genre made famous by modern day pop singers of African American descent]. Randhir’s ‘Namal Mitak’ also features the musical genius of veteran music composer Navarathna Gamage and the talented young Sachith Peiris [the music arranger behind the song ‘Namal Mitak’]. The album also includes some exciting collaborations with guest artists such as Umara, Bathiya & Santhush, Tamil Hip Hop Artist Krishan Maheson & Germany-based Sri Lankan musician Orry Athurugiriya.
• Randhir would like to express his sincere thanks to the brands Ritzbury, Off Marks & Rexona for their sponsorship of his debut album.
