UNP leader, Ranil Wickremesinghe has decided to nominate popular actor, Ranjan Ramanayake as the party’s Chief Ministerial candidate for the forthcoming Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council polls.
The decision was taken at a special meeting presided by the opposition leader at the ‘Silver Ray’ Hotel in Pelmadulla this morning (July 12th).
All UNP Parliamentarians and PC councilors of the Sabaragamuwa Province as well as senior party members who are to play a part in the forthcoming PC polls attended the meeting.
All that were present, including former opposition leader of the Sabaragamuwa PC, Mr. Wijethunga unanimously agreed with the UNP leadership to appoint Mr. Ramanayake as the leading candidate of the UNP.
