A UPFA Pradeshiya Sabha member of the Pujapitiya PS was taken into custody by the Ankumbura Police on allegations of raping a woman in the Dolapihilla area the Police said.
Another person who was suspected to have aided and abetted the suspect had fled from the Police when they had attempted to arrest him. The Police are conducting further investigations into the incident
