Rat coming out of commode!

අපේ toilet එකේ commode එකෙන් මීයෙක් එලියට එනවා!
මේක නවත්තන්න කළ හැක්කේ කුමක්ද?

Our toilet pipes are connected to a manhole which is connected to the municipal sewage lines.

දැනට කරන්නේ toilet seat cover එක වහලා තියන එක.
මේක කරදර වැඩක්. මීයා ආවම toilet එකේ වතුර ජරා වෙලා. හැමතැනම ඉහිලා.
Seat cover වහලා හින්දා මීයාට එලියට පනින්න බෑ. ඉතින් ආපහු යනවා ඇති.

One day commode was not covered and rat was out in the toilet!
That is how we know. But before something could be brought to catch rat fellow had gone back. But catching that rat won't help as there must be many rats in the sewer lines.

කාටවත් මෙහෙම අත්දැකීමක් තියනවද?

Even if the toilet is not connected to municipal sewer lines and has a septic tank and soak-age pit, if a rat digs into the soak-age pit this problem could arise.

Toilet pipe එකේ grill එකක් දාන්න බෑ නේ. Solid waste will get blocked.
Rat tried to come out of wash basin waste line and gully. But due to grills in them, එන්න බැරිවුනා.

All ideas to solve this problem are welcome!

might kill a few rats. But the municipal sewers has many many rats .

Few months ago a sink out line was blocked. Found that a rat had got stuck in
T joint while going on reverse. Fellow must have come up correctly, but since the grill in the sink prevented coming out, gone back in reverse as turning not possible in 2" dia pipe. At T joint, back end of rat has gone into plugged end of T joint (plugged end for cleaning), got stuck and may have drowned when water comes from sink or starved.

In another instance, Rat has pushed open grill in gully of one bathroom and come out. So now all gully grills that can open, we keep a brick. Of course if grill is plastic, Rats byte that and try to make a hole.
