You are wrong! the newest trend in the South and South East Asian Airlines are having a budget Airliner apart from the main carrier! You are talking about post 9/11 period which is almost forgotten in the industry already!

Although I do not know the condition of Mihin Air, it does offer very attractive low prices for short distance flying!

    For an example:

If someone takes flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Sri Lanka using Sri Lankan airlines (which is the cheapest) it will cost Malaysian Ringgit 1480/= which rougly converts to Rs.50,000/= +

If that person can travel to Singapore and catch Mihin Air flight it will cost him 275 Sing. Dollars which roughly converted to around Rs. 21,000/= that's half of the cost saved..

From Malaysia to Singapore the bus ride will cost Rs.1000/= and a night in a decent hotel will be Rs.5500/= calculated still the total is Rs. 27000/= ~

And its still cheaper than taking Sri Lankan airlines! Of course Sri Lankan airlines is more comfy and posh you may say! But as for me I dont really mind a 3 hour short jouney on a budget airline and from the money I save I'll get some goods for my family!!

So there's a MARKET for low cost airlines! its not a bad deseicion but how well people admin it is a different matter!

yeah your view regarding and the points of yours is mayb correct in your view... but as it mentioned above dont you think the wasted money of two billion is been wasted from our own money and the fairs of air ticket mayb low comparing with the other airways ... but they we are payin the other half of the air values in indirect ways such as as tax vat nd etc...

so in my view this is just a blady crap which blindfolds the people and waste the nations money ...

no use of argue about a useless fact... so i end up this reply hoping for a better tomarow........

1st of all.. I don't 100% believe the above article! Unless the thread starter can provide a source!

Secondly, any business needs time to mature, you cannot expect gains straight away and most importantly if Sri Lanka govt. abandons this project (I mean any govt.) India will definitely take over and run it.. those kind of proposal have been proposed before by India... there is a market for short distance flying in Sri Lanka as more and more people are migrating than it was a decade ago...

If Sri Lanka govt. or Sri Lankan owned company doesnt wanna do it.. then I'm pretty sure an Indian company like Sahara Air will someday pass a big "kuttiya" to the BOI and start a budget Airline here... And now that Emirates is out of the equation Sri Lanka save 40% that they gave to them as well right?

So its upto people to decide whether they wanna give the benefit to an outsider of let a Sri Lankan institution handle!

    Example:

Air Asia.. the budget Airliner that have almost captured the whole of SE Asia now, these people will definitely eye South Asian market too, sooner or later!

Yeah ... but still because of the current violations .... i can cannot see a future for the Mihin Lanka... any hope things will be ok soon....

If Mihin Lanka goes in for a better place in the future... Business with Violations and Corruption Do Have a Good Place in Future... And Mihin Lanka will be the best Example for that    ..

Anyway nice to share my view with you...
Mayb im not correct with my points ... Coz im still 18. k
