Rupavahini and ITN charged of contempt of court
(Lanka-e-News,Sep-30-2008,11.00PM) Lanka-e-News learns that initiatives are underway to charge state owned Rupavahini and Independent Television Network (ITN) regarding contempt of court since the channels criticized the Supreme Court order to the Director of Traffic Police to remove all road blocks along Galle Road from Gall Face.
According to legal sources the Rupavahini and ITN TV channels have reportedly insulted the Supreme Court through two programmes aired yesterday (29).
Lanka-e-News learns that personal cases will be filed within this week against the Chairmen of these two TV channels and the producers and the presenters of the relevant programmes.
